OMG! I could be ok with the legs but not with the dead head. Although I'm used to seeing such things because my father was a vet at the cattle farm- sometimes he brought dead heads for our dogs to eat :-S
At least it makes it clear what animal the meat comes from. In Korea I saw a skinned dog for sale at the market, little claws and all, while in Peru there were squashed Guinea pigs, with those cute eyes and ears looking at me.
I have similr shots taken during Eid, but for some weird reason I got to say: WTH! The idea of dead heads being sold at a local supermarket is way too freaky...and disgusting!!
Hello there,,,,,,,,,, strange!!!!!!!!why?is it unedible? or you just don't like these parts of meat i love them((((((( if there is no difference of taste, the goods will not be sold.
nadia nadia hahahahaha u know that Dhoaris luv to eat cows' head and make soap of it so no problem looooooooool, in fact it will be good business for the market... but for me i don't wanna see this view for sure...
My kids are just mesmerized every time we go to Al Isteqrar when the head is on display. They make me wait extra long and press their noses against the glass counter to get a better view. :-/
According to the butcher Omanis just love grilling the head over hot coals. Apparently the eyes are a delicacy. (is this true???) Roast eyeball anyone LOL.
In thailand one night i was starving, while waiting for the bus to take me north i decided ill go get some snacks at the 7/11 shop. On my way out i saw a crowd of people around so i went to have look at what the crowd was about. I put my hands forward to reach for what i thought was chocolate treats but they turned out to be fried roaches, grass hoppers and other lil bugs... i screamed and the locals laughed.. was a funny sight watching ms white girl scream in horror while the locals enjoy the delight.. im laughing now but i was not back then.
Oh my goodness, squashed guinea pigs! Seriously, Ian, I don't know if I needed to know that! I had a guinea pig as a pet when I was little ... cried buckets when he died and had to bury him properly ... I think I'd throw up if I saw them laid out like that ... also had a dog at some point too ... and a cat ... and I really liked the nice gentle cow on my grandfather's farm ... and his horse ... and I had a pet rabbit ... so I can't bring myself to eat any of these animals ... never had a chicken though ;) ... Also, don't get me started on what Disney's Little Mermaid did to me when it comes to eating fish or lobsters ... No wonder I find it easy to stay slim ... I've been traumatized :)
Fdayooh No1 Kmayooh... ohhhhh cows from Somal...naaaaa usually goats import from Somal not cows... cows are either local or australian... right?????? u really confuse me... and ppl in SLL usually boil the heads and eat its flesh, from cheeks i guess loooooooooooool :)
Interesting, In the Chinese market I was at the had a hole pic on a spit in the shop window. When I saw crabs in a tank half of me wanted to by them to free them like in a movie I saw the other half wanted to eat them. What can I say I lived in a fishing village when I was little.
@Fdayooh No1 Kmayooh loooooool got it Somali cows ammmm interesting... but bro i saw a lot of SLL ppl eating cows' heads... maybe it depend on the culture, as u know there are many cultures in SLL not only one
Dhofar is the Southern province in the Sultanate of Oman. Salalah is the capital city of Dhofar (in fact, the only main city). Our little corner of the world is unique in many ways. If you look at the labels at the bottom right of this page and check out some of my older posts, you'll know why. As a Dhofari, I have insider's input. If you read my posts (old and new), you'll begin to appreciate (if not already) the richness of our amazing little world. Salalah is very special, and very different. Tribes, nature, mystery, magic, jinn, you name it. If you're wondering why I'm fluent in English, it's because I spent several years studying abroad. However, I am a Salalah girl through and through. I do not blog as often as I used to because my life is insane, but don't give up on me. I do write. I've been writing for EIGHT years! I have a lot of positive (and rather amusing) things to write about. Many of my posts revolve around women. I do not aim to only criticize the society in Salalah or the way of life. I am proud of who we are and how we live. I only intend to tell it as it is.
