The Queen

And here she is .. in Oman after 30 years,.... looking elegant and preserved as always. What an honor having her here with us. I wonder what she and His Majesty have talked about? I'd LOVE to know what their conversations are like. Does he address her as 'Your Majesty' and vice versa? Have they had an actual conversation? Do you think they've talked about horses? Bagpipes? Perhaps he's asked her what she thinks of Prince William's engagement to Kate Middleton last week? The so called engagement the world has been waiting for (according to Hello magazine). Do they have their meals together? I wonder. . .
.
I'd love to be a fly on their wall.
.
Sigh.

  1. Prince William cam to Oman last week - on his way back to England from Afganistan - perhaps he gave Sultan Qaboos a personal invitation to the wedding.
The Queen looked very fresh and cool - but Prince Philip is looking tired http://ynotoman.wordpress.com/2010/11/26/queen-elizabeth-state-welcome/

  2. She looks as proper as always, Mushallah. Inshallah she had a vary good trip to Oman. I remember when she visited my city and went to my old church on Sunday (when I was christian), her manners where exquisite, same with her husband.

  4. Perhaps they inquire of each other whether they have read any good books lately? Perhaps they both have read: The Uncommon Reader and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen.

  5. I read it somewhere that since HM was a serving officer in the British Military, he was a subordinate of the Queen. And since the British have been instrumental in HM's claim to the throne, HM treats her with genuine respect (as opposed to formal-only). AAnd add to that that she is his senior, I'm sure HM would definitely be calling her Your Majesty. She, otoh, might be on a first-name basis with him, maybe!

  6. Thanks for the comments everyone. However, Prince William was not in Oman. Just rumors. More likely he was in that romantic cabin in Kenya proposing to his girlfriend of eight years.

  7. She is a marvel performing an almost impossible job for over 50 years (and putting up with her grumpy husband plus less than wonderful sons). The Sultan is a marvel too.

  8. "The prince visited the camp’s medical centre before attending the remembrance service at 11am Afghan time.

He left straight afterwards and paid a private visit to the Sultan of Oman on his way back to the UK. "
