Slight error in my facts. I did some research. According to the Ministry of Health, there have been around 1700 (not 1000) AIDS cases in Oman since 1984. 1119 of them are still alive. Most cases are men. Yup, men. Men returning from Asia. Men who can't stay away from their house maids. M.E.N.

That's pretty sad. Unfortunately, it exists in all parts of the world: Asia, Africa, Europe, etc. even in an Arab country. Of course prostitution is not encouraged for obvious reasons but we can't entirely put the blame on the prostitutes. What about those men? Those men who use the 'service'? They should have known better.

Doesn't that just insulting and offensive to Asians, or other non-racists? To generalise those people in Asia as maids, a "second" class citizen? Come on now, I thought everybody was created as equals.
Totally agree with you; it is both condecending and insulting to the maids in Oman. God knows that their lives are difficult enough without this rubbish being aimed at them.
