Somehow, I find it very entertaining that a group of Shanfaris' (Shanfary tribe) decided to get married together, and the wedding was so huge it was held in the local football stadium!! Oh WELCOME To Salalah! They even had a banner up saying something like 'Glory to the Shanfaris' or something like that. Don't quote me. I'm so excited for the monsoon to start. Tired of the heat. I'm planning a trip to Mirbat next week? Anyone coming? :-)

Umm... ADG, People go to Mirbat to CHILL. It's quiet, beautiful, relaxing, the ocean is blue as blue can be most of the time, you can go fishing, you can look for hyenas, or investigate my mysterious graveyard, you can sit on the balcony at Al Shiraa restaurant and look out onto the ocean while smoking sheesha, you can dig for clams, you can climb mountains, you can ski down the sand dunes, you can swim,.....etc, etc
ReplyDeleteDone all that except the graveyard and the HYENAS, love to watch them.... Memories of Dhofar certainly stay in one's heart...
ReplyDeleteI heard that during Khareef season, it's illegal or forbidden to swim in the Dhofar waters.
ReplyDeleteDhofariChick, if you're really Dhofari, you would know that. I'm beginning to think you're an undercover something! It's not illegal, but it's generally known (plus all the signs and government warnings) that from May to October, No swimming, and preferrably no fishing for non-pros. The tides are too strong. You stand near the water for a few minutes and without feeling it, it just pulls you in and .... bye bye!
