Maybe your rant will be reinforced by this additional frustration - go for it!
Reminds me of staying very late in the office years ago, working on some great long complicated thing that my boss would really be impressed with. Finally at about 1130pm I was done, leaned back in my chair to survey my masterpiece, and kicked the plug out of the extension lead. All gone...we never learn, eh?
Reminds me of the time I accidently formatted the memory card that had all my sister's engagement photos on it. I was the ONLY photographer at the engagement. She still brings it up.
I am not so familiar with blogger but with wordpress it has an automatic saving of draft... you can avoid that next time by drafting it first on a doc file or text file and don't forget to press CRTL + S all the time :)
Could you please include me in your blog list and will do the same?
I hope you can find the resolve to re-write. Always interested in your thoughts & rants! - though I would have to agree that it's completely soul-destroying to lose something mid-way through like that. Has happened to me often with email!
Dhofar is the Southern province in the Sultanate of Oman. Salalah is the capital city of Dhofar (in fact, the only main city). Our little corner of the world is unique in many ways. If you look at the labels at the bottom right of this page and check out some of my older posts, you'll know why. As a Dhofari, I have insider's input. If you read my posts (old and new), you'll begin to appreciate (if not already) the richness of our amazing little world. Salalah is very special, and very different. Tribes, nature, mystery, magic, jinn, you name it. If you're wondering why I'm fluent in English, it's because I spent several years studying abroad. However, I am a Salalah girl through and through. I do not blog as often as I used to because my life is insane, but don't give up on me. I do write. I've been writing for EIGHT years! I have a lot of positive (and rather amusing) things to write about. Many of my posts revolve around women. I do not aim to only criticize the society in Salalah or the way of life. I am proud of who we are and how we live. I only intend to tell it as it is.
I hate when that happens! Rewrite!
ReplyDeleteRe-write?!!!! Angry, I was RANTING. I cannot re-rant (or can I?)
ReplyDeleteouchie, =p
ReplyDeletethat happened to me the other day - I was spitting fire!
ReplyDeleteIn the second draft you will say even more... in just one eloquent page. Yalla, let's see it. Polished in the redraft.

Ouch. No, nothing is as sweet as that first unrehearsed, unedited rant. Sorry you lost it all. :(

ReplyDeleteI've re-ranted more times then I can count!
ReplyDeleteWhen you start writing again, you'll feel it...or you won't and your rant will become a thought provoking, mindful piece, win-win either way!
I'm looking forward to it :)
Err... totally understand how that feels, but make it a habit to draft on a word doc first and then copy past to your blog.
